- Mary was referred to Ride Connection’s RideWise program by her transition teacher. She wanted to learn how to use public transportation to get to her first job at Nike. After her success working with a Travel Trainer to get to work, Mary feels confident to get from home in Beaverton to volunteer opportunities in Downtown Portland and to her support services in Southeast Portland - all on public transportation.
- Steve uses Ride Connection’s services for many different purposes - but the main purpose is to visit his wife, who is in a nursing home. No longer able to drive and without much family in the area, Steve relies on Ride Connection to take him to his much anticipated Tuesday and Thursday visits with his wife.
For as many people that we are able to help, there are many others we cannot because of limited funding. People like Tom, who cannot get transportation on the weekend to visit his family in Clackamas County, and people like Sally, who has a health condition that makes it impossible to schedule her life three or four days in advance.
