In that regard, the Board expects the director, as well as each member of management, to lead by example in a culture that emphasizes trust, integrity, honesty, judgment, respect, managerial courage and responsibility. Code of Ethics Board BiographiesRobert Ueland, PresidentRobert Ueland joined Ride Connection as a board member in 1999. Robert Ueland is a real-estate broker with a long history of neighborhood activism and is currently President of the Hollywood Neighborhood Association, Treasurer of the Central Northeast Neighbors board and a member of the Hollywood Lions Club. He has received the Spirit of Portland award and Multnomah County's Gladys McCoy Award. Leslie Clark, Vice-PresidentLeslie was excited to become a board member in 2003 due to her concerns of transportation needs for those who are without the ability or means to provide their own. She is currently the vice-president of the board and is looking forward to working toward increased service and programs to meet the needs of the community. Leslie and a business partner began a local CPA firm in Portland, Oregon in 1993. The firm works with small to medium-sized businesses providing financial and tax services, and with individuals to provide individual and estate tax planning and preparation. In addition to the daily work requirements, she is responsible for management of the company and its employees. Leslie received her undergraduate degree in 1988 from Portland State University, then also completed her Master of Taxation degree there in 1993. Leslie is involved in a variety of outside activities and organizations, including being the Oregon Mayflower Society treasurer, and participating several times per week in agility training with her dog Lily. Rosy Vu, TreasurerRosy Vu has been a Ride Connection board member since 2003. She is passionate about transportation accessibility as she experiences it first hand with her mother, who does not drive, and as her father is getting older and will soon have to give up driving, they both will have to face the challenges of transportation accessibility. In addition to her involvement with Ride Connection, her other activities in the community include being the Treasurer of Southeast Asian Relief Association, and a member of Eastside Professional Association. Rosy has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and currently is vice-president/business banking officer with Sterling Saving Bank. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Finance and Business Administration from Portland State University. She also is a graduate of Northwest Intermediate Commercial Lending School. Richard "Dick" Jones, SecretaryDick has been on the Ride Connection Board since 2001. He has many experiences in government, including serving as a current member of the Clackamas County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, Ride Connection's Program and Provider Services Committee, as well as the present chair of the Oak Lodge Community Council. Dick retired 10 years ago from Wah Chang in Albany after spending his entire career there in financial management. Dick and his wife, Dorothy, of 44 years spent the first 34 years living in the mid Willamette Valley. They returned to Oak Grove in 1994 to his childhood home. They have three adult children and four grandchildren. After returning to Oak Grove, Dick became involved with the Oak Lodge Community Council. This group unbeknown to Dick, gave him the nickname of "Bulldog Joens". In reality, it should have been "Watchdog". People identified him with watching out for others and tenacity to stick with things til' there done right. Dick is committed to making Oak Grove a better place to live and work. He serves on a number of committees and Boards. In addition to Ride Connection, they include the Oak Lodge Water District Board, North Clackamas County Water Commission, Clackamas Rive Basin Council, North Clackamas County Chamber of Commerce, Clackamas County Volunteer Connection Advisory Council, NC12 Schools Budget Committee, Metro's Committee for Citizen Involvement and Regional Transportation Coordinating Council. Jenni BernheiselJenni Bernheisel became a Ride Connection Board member in 2008. She works for the City of Portland as a Crime Prevention Coordinator for the Office of Neighborhood Involvement. Her background includes a BA in Criminology from Portland State University. She is active in her neighborhood association and enjoys travel, camping and spending time with family. Patty BrostPatty Brost worked for 38 years in the Legacy Health System's hospital, Mt. Hood Medical Center in Gresham, Oregon. She worked as a unit charge nurse, in many departments including six years in Intensive Care taking care of very critically ill patients. After attending a series of classes on planning educational classes and workshops for nurses, she developed the Staff Inservice position at the hospital. For 26 years she planned and implemented education for the nursing staff and other hospital department staff. In addition, she started the Community Health Education programs and worked with the school districts to give students experience in various health care departments in the hospital. In her outreach to the schools she was a member of several advisory committees and helped develop the Health Science Academy at the Center for Advanced Learning Center serving six high schools. She also was responsible for developing senior resources and became the manager of a small transportation program under Ride Connection's supervision that provided transportation for seniors and people with disabilities in East Multnomah County. She volunteered to facilitate six support groups starting 18 years ago. Retiring in 2002, she continues to facilitate the support groups, has been the President of the Board of Directors, Gresham Senior Center for four years, is the Chair of the Elders in Action Commission this year, having been a commission member for five years, and has been a board member of Ride Connection for five years, serving as secretary for the last two years. She is also a member of the East County Senior Coalition and the Ambleside Steering Committee. Julie KennedyJulie has been on the Board of Directors at Ride Connection since 2000. Julie is a Project Manager for the City of Portland with a Masters Degree in Public Administration. Julie is currently working on her MBA at Willamette University with a focus on business in the government and non-profit sectors. In her spare time, Julie enjoys mountain climbing, world adventure travel, private piloting and skiing. Julie has long been an advocate of giving to the community through volunteer work and is also an active member of the Red Cross Disaster Action Team. Henry “Hank” MigginsHank is new to the Ride Connection Board of Directors – he became a member in 2006. While he attended universities in Minnesota, Michigan and Washington, Henry finished his undergraduate studies and got a Masters of Arts from Fort Wright College. Today, he works as a Mortgage Broker/Loan Officer at Discover Mortgage Company. Stephanie RenziDuring her legal career, she has worked for the Oregon Advocacy Center for advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities, the Portland City Attorney's Office helping to advise the City on compliance with disability laws, and for Schneider Law Offices assisting clients to obtain Social Security disability benefits. Today, she works as Assistant General Counsel for Farmington Centers, Inc., a private company that operates various senior care facilities in the Northwest. Stephanie is currently enrolled in the yoga teacher training program at Portland Yoga Arts and will be certified to teach Iyengar yoga in two years. She also enjoys running, various outdoor sports, baking cookies, and planning her August 2008 Portland wedding and honeymoon in Spain. Carolyn RundorffCarolyn has been a member of the Board of Directors for Ride Connection since 2004. She graduated from the University of Washington and worked as a school librarian. She is a long time volunteer with the League of Women Voters, the Multnomah County Library and Elderhostel. She has been a “Visiting Voice” for Multnomah County Libraries, reading to older adults in nursing homes for over 10 years. Carolyn has also served as a tour guide at Pittock Mansion for 15 years. She enjoys reading and gardening. Andy SzolnokiAndy is another 2006 addition to the Ride Connection Board of Directors. He is a retired Transportation Supervisor for Providence ElderPlace and IBM Engineer. Andy’s interests include hiking and stained glass, and his favorite vacation spot are the woods. Ron ThompsonRon has served on the Board of Directors for Ride Connection since 2004. He is the owner of Thompson Planning Service. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Forestry from Texas A&M, and Louisiana State University in 1965. Ron serves as a City Councilor for the City of Forest Grove, City Liaison for Committee for Citizen Involvement, and as a Consultant for Sensitive Area Certification-Wetlands. He has received many awards, including a Letter of Commendation from the White House for the Pacific Northwest Forest Plan in 1993. He enjoys gardening and fishing. Ron’s favorite vacation spot is Charleston, South Carolina. He is married and has two daughters, and two grandsons. |
