Ride Connection

Multnomah County

For information on the transportation services in your neighborhood, visit Transportation Services by Zip Code.

The following services are available for Multnomah County:

1. Specialized Transportation

Client Based Service
Client Based Programs provide transportation services to their elderly clients and/or clients with disabilities. The narrow focus of each program is different: some programs focus on the community needs, others focus on low income individuals, some focus on a specific disability and others serve clients of a certain facility. Each Client Based Program is limited to serving the clients that are enrolled in their particular program and assign drivers to assist clients with their transportation needs. Though each program assists their clients as appropriate, generally they provide trips for medical, shopping, nutritive, recreational, supportive services and volunteer/work activities.

Neighborhood Based Service
Ride Connection’s neighborhood-based partner agencies provide coordinated door-to-door demand response transportation. Agencies respond to specific one-time and ongoing ride requests from customers. Drivers provide rides for medical, nutritive, shopping, supportive services, life sustaining medical, recreational, and volunteer/work-related needs. Hours and days of service vary within each of the Network partner agencies.

East County U-Ride
East County U-Ride provides expanded transportation services for the elderly and people with disabilities in rural east Multnomah County where there is absence of public transportation. U-Ride service allows customers to access public transit, shopping and other services.

Provides transportation services for seniors and individuals with disabilities to/from the East Portland Community Center in Portland for customers enrolled at the center for meals and/or center activities.

Gateway Shuttle
The Gateway Shuttle serves the needs of seniors and people with disabilities who would use TriMet’s bus line #77. The shuttle offers door-to-door service to access retailers and services in the Gateway area. Shuttle trips are provided two days per week. One round trip is provided on Thursdays and two round trips are provided on Fridays.

RideAbout
The N/NE RideAbout is a free shuttle for seniors age 60 and over and customers living with a disability who need a little extra help getting around. Neighborhoods served are Kenton, Arbor Lodge, Piedmont, Woodlawn, King, Humboldt, Overlook, Boise, Elliot, Irvington and Sabin.

3. Customer Training

RideWise
RideWise is a collaborative effort between TriMet, Ride Connection and other organizations to assist older adults and people living with disabilities to travel independently. Transportation Representatives guide individuals through the resources and options available in their community. This personalized service provides customers with information on all transportation options so that they are able to choose the best option for each of their trips.

WorkLink
The WorkLink program serves low income job seekers and wage earners. It provides instruction in English and Spanish on how to fully understand and utilize all alternative transportation options within their community by working with partner agencies, identifying network trainers, providing direct consumer education and one-on-one instruction.

Individuals are instructed in group settings and individually. Those who receive training not only practice the many ways to plan a commute using the TriMet system, they also learn about other transportation options, such as bicycles, carpools and vanpools.

The WorkLink program is currently provided in Multnomah and rural Washington Counties.
